Today is the eight post in Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge
Across from the Park

8 by 10 inches
This is another work that began as a plein air painting and finished in the studio. In the 6th post I painted "indications" of houses as seen from the top of the mountain. And in this work "parts" of houses are painted. They were surrounded by many large trees and lush landscaping. My goal was to paint only what was necessary and avoid details.
When this work was painted at the park I had the walking paths and roadway cutting through the bottom third of the painting. This activity at the bottom of the painting took the focus aways from the houses so it was painted out in the studio. Creating an indication of trees, shrubs and turf and then repeating the colors found in the upper part of the painting, made a more successful composition.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and checking on the challenge.
