January 5 - 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Today is the 5th day of Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge 2017.

No Meetings Scheduled

Another view of the same church from yesterday takes the subject to a view that looks toward abstraction.  This painting is done on top of paper covered with collage.  If you look carefully you can see the bubble wrap texture in the trees behind the building.  Other sections of the painting are also laid out with collage to create landscape shapes.

Perspective is still in mind with the building although the front-on view minimizes most of the challenging angles.  A ruler was still handy for drawing.  The perspective technique of overlap was used.  The building overlaps the sky, mountains, field and trees visually pushing them back.

Another perspective technique is the use of color.  Cooler colors as in the mountains recede.  Warmer colors as in the yellows in front of the building come forward.  The color palette again takes its inspiration from the Farmhouse Chic designs.

Thanks for coming back for an update on the painting challenge.
